Night Sky Tours
1. We have three grade 6 classes with a total of 78 students, but your website states that the maximum group size is 30. Can you still come visit?
Yes, a Night Sky Tour can be arranged for a group of 78 students. However, such a large group would have to be broken up into smaller groups and then each smaller group would cycle through the Night Sky Tour and then on to some other activity. This is considered to be an Astronomer 4 Hire best practice and will result in a more effective evening in terms of learning. I would recommend a 30-minute session for each group of students. As for the other activity, which will presumably be an indoor activity, I'm happy to make suggestions and help out in whatever way I can, but I can not possibly be in two places at the same time and so the other activity would have to be conducted by a teacher or another adult.
2. What happens if we can't actually do the Night Sky Tour because of bad weather?
If it is snowing, raining, overcast, or mostly cloudy, the Night Sky Tour can be rescheduled or it can be cancelled provided at least four (4) hours notice is given. Alternatively, an indoor astronomy program can be conducted in lieu of the Night Sky Tour.
